YES! ONE MORE DOWN!!

Thank God we finally gotten our Bridal Package! I'm really glad that we got that settled and measurements etc will start next year!

Next up, pre wedding photographer (eyeing tri angles!) and church location.

Any recommendations for the latter?

We are really thankful for God's blessing. It's been a tough and rough time for the financial world, but we are sure that His hands will always cover us :)

I'll gonna be away for the next few weeks. Please take care of my hubby-to-be!

Nocturnal Bear?

The photo above is placed right next to me at my workstation. Each time when i'm upset or stressed or just plain sian, these photos bring a warmth to my heart and remind me that there's a purpose in God's work :)

It's the second consecutive day that i am up still 3-4am despite having to be in school by 7am. As a uni student, i found the wee hours of the morning most conducive to type reports and essays (but this might be confounded by the fact that i was rushing for time). As a sims addict, it was the best way to see time fly past you. And you might think that as a teacher, i have already adjusted my biological clock to sleep early and wake early... but it just seems that my body falls into an easy pattern of staying up late. I might try to change it with much effort... but it's effortless to undo the change.

Nocturnal bear? :)

The wee hours of the morning is beautiful. I don't normally say this. Usually i like light and colours and all. When it comes to individual work however, the wee hours are a fantastic time to work. It's quiet yet noisy with car and irritating motorcycles. There's an occasional scream or loud laugh that makes you want to pop your head of the window to kapo.

Good night folks, see ya in 2hours time? :)

Abi's Wedding and etc!

Some pictures from Abigail & Shao Kai's wedding earlier this month :) This wedding starts the 3-month long affair of marriages! All the way till January in fact, where dear Elynn & Bernard get teary eyed. Our best wishes, blessings and prayers to all these lovely couples. All of you mean super much to me :) And i'm glad that you found someone to love, to cherish, to criticize, to hate, to protect, to take care, to hug and to share life's beautiful moments with.. for better or for worse.

It's better to have a partner than go it alone. Share the work, share the wealth. And if one falls down, the other helps, But if there's no one to help, tough!
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (The Message)

And to my dear friend Abi, have wonderful honeymoon and an even better marriage! Fill it with God's love so that others can feel the outpouring of your love! Show us your red kitchen top soon okay? And if you are doing an open house during CNY, does it mean we get red packets? Hahahha!!

Things that make me smile at work!

Going for a retreat next week and i'm kinda freaking out! I'm tasked to do a small part of the retreat, but well... to sum things up, its a good opportunity but its so daunting at the same time. So daunting that i can't think about anything but it! And i am leaving for Barakit in a few hours time!

Isaiah and me made some plans for the future. It sounds terribly exciting, and we are going to commit it to the Lord first. After all, we need Big Daddy's nod of approval, if not it's not going to come to pass. Well, that pretty much applies for everything right?

Oh ya! We are getting some head start into our wedding plans! Did some preliminary discussion on the budget. Met up with Tri-Angles and we both love it! Only issue is --> should we take our pre wedding photos in taipei or not? Pros: its fun, its fun, its memorable, its fun.. Cons: $$$$$! Comments?

Did i mention how much i love my Daddy? And Mummy? And Sister? And lovely sweet Gramps? And Isaiah too :) :)

Saving the world at work

Happy 1342 days together darling =)

-------------------
some updates....

goin mission trip this saturday till sunday in Bintan. i think its going to be great fun, visiting the villages and orphanages. wah...have to plan the games, logistics not ready...die haha....need to pack to...
---------------------
thank God that yesterday's presentation went well. HR sent out this book summary:

Saving the World at Work: What Companies and Individuals Can Do to Go Beyond Making a Profit to Making a Difference

i think it is great to work in a place that wants to actively contribute back to the community! The summary looks good, a bit confusing though. but i really believe in this philosophy. use our work and workplace to change the world!

Last saturday, we had an outreach event with Life Community Services. again, great great.! i think i miss being able to spend so much time doing all these. The slideshow is below.

"Be the change you want to see in the world" - i think as a christian, that's all the more true. All things in HIS time....
-----------------
goin to rotate out soon. i think i started out rather apprehensive, but yeah change is good. learn NOT to be too comfortable in one place. reminds me of my QT a few days back....

Deut 1:5-8"On this side of the Jordan in the land of Moab, Moses began to explain this law, saying, “The LORD our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: ‘You have dwelt long enough at this mountain. Turn and take your journey, and go to the mountains of the Amorites, to all the neighboring places in the plain, in the mountains and in the lowland, in the South and on the seacoast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the River Euphrates. See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—to give to them and their descendants after them."

i hope one day soon again, I hear that again....so for now it is a job rotation. maybe in the future a job change? location change? country change? i look forward to a promised land!

ok....back to work!

"Meant To Live"

Happy Day and some updates

It's a happy day when you God is with you! :)

Anyway, i was talking to Uncle Frank today and he was sharing about how blessed his family is. He mentioned a few things and one of them would be James' all expense paid trip to the Olympics recently. And it got me thinking, this kind of things won't happen to me one la.

Honestly, it's like as if i can't win lucky draw or something.

Take the recent Leading Hotel of the World (LHW) US19.99 promotion for example. I realised that accomodations in NYC are hit-the-roof high. In fact, my hostel cost 85usd each for a two person room! So when i found out about the LHW 19.99USD promo which allowed to stay in a ultra luxurious hotel at the price of 19.99usd per night, if i am the first few to sign up... i SNATCH AH!

To cut the long story short, i went to lengths to make sure i got the room. Since i couldn't be around at the stipulated time, my poor sister was assigned the role of submitting the form asap. In the days following the submission, i checked my email religiously... thinking that i will get it for sure.. till i got the email that thanked me for my participation and.. the end. Urgh! It's back to 85USD X2 per night hostel.

The only thing my family won in a lucky draw was in a Dental Exhibition held years ago! Like maybe even a decade. I remember that it was held in Takashimaya's exhibition area. My cute lil sis then went on stage to answer a question and got a prize. My excited mum got me to fill in a few forms, one for her, one for me, one for daddy, etc etc.. and we won! 2nd prize. The hamper was HUGE! My sister and me proudly wore the free tee as PJs for years! Till it literally had holes and my mum had to forcefully take it away from us. :)

And that's about it.

Till now! :)

Recently my colleague and me participated in Amore Women's Day Out. We thought it would be a good laugh to goof around together :) And so we did.. from belly dance (total disaster. was so afraid we were spotted. quick duck!) to kickboxing. We also participated in this photo contest (cos i was crazy enough and still high on adrenalin). Best 10 pictures per category gets a $200 spa voucher.

Yay! :) Silliness pays off once in a while! Thank God! Now we can totally spa out and spend our afternoons in bliss. LaLaaaa!!! And the photo is small cos i look terrible. Its a cross between constipated, shocked and i dunno. Its just horrible. But we won!

And from all the ugly unglam jump shots, my final conclusion on how to jump gracefully - just do it star fish/jumping jacks style. It won't go wrong. Trust me, dun try to look demure by keeping yours arms closed to you. You just look contstipated like me. And open your mouth wide for the effect. Look at my friend at the side - good example.

On the another note, God has been good to my pals. One just gave birth. Another travelled to a really important high level business trip. Yet another got posted overseas to take on a regional management position. And the list goes on. The world's crumbling apart. But guess what, in God we have the joy!

During service today, i was just praying and feeling terrible about how low i have been feeling. And somehow, this popped into my head:

Don't hope for good times. Instead, hope for My strength to be your strength; My hope to be your hope; and My joy to be your joy.

Isn't it true? Let's hope for God's strength to be instilled in us. His hope and joy to be our light in these times of darkness. Then we will fear nothing, but confidently walk towards the future :)

And to end of this happy post.. Isaiah and me went shopping! And i am always happy when shopping together. Just in case you are wondering, nope its not for the wedding!

Hoho :) Happy happy!

Ok, some updates for the wedding. We are still trying to finalize on a photographer. Which means, no progress for the lonnnngest time! Which actually also means no updates. Wahahahaha! :)

He's got the whole world in His hands

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,
is God in his holy dwelling.
- Psalm 68:5

Was just sharing this with matz recently and shared it again today in preparing for our personal testimonies for cambodia.

when we come to know Jesus as our personal Lord and Saviour, we begin to enjoy several things:
  • peace
  • protection
  • power
  • purpose
  • provision
Genesis 26
1
Now there was a famine in the land—besides the earlier famine of Abraham's time—and Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines in Gerar. 2 The LORD appeared to Isaac and said, "Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live. 3 Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham. 4 I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring [a] all nations on earth will be blessed, 5 because Abraham obeyed me and kept my requirements, my commands, my decrees and my laws." 6 So Isaac stayed in Gerar.12 Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the LORD blessed him. 13 The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy. 14 He had so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him. 15 So all the wells that his father's servants had dug in the time of his father Abraham, the Philistines stopped up, filling them with earth.

even in these troubled times, its so good to remember that the Lord remembers us. time and time again the Lord has provided for my family:
  • my father's passing away
  • asian financial crisis
  • mom's company bankrupt
  • funding for my Uni studies
  • getting a great job after graduation
  • funding for my younger sister's education
So great to know that He's got the whole world in His hand.

He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. - Psalm 147:4

and He knows our every need :)

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus - Phil 4:19
