Day 2....

haha its day 2 of my HQO...

status of health...no fever, no cold, no running nose - conclusion - FINE!

status of brain...

woke up at 7am today. took meds at 8am and temp..

sat in front of the TV for HOURS! haha

watched the following
- MJ Special on CNN
- Dr Strange cartoon on Star Movies
- Country Bears on SM
- Confessions of a teenage drama queen on Channel 5
- Chipmunks on SM

in between, had lunch, a visit from a cisco officer to confirm that i wasn't rampaging around my estate spreading my non-flu.

read a book too...finished one book on friday, half way through another now. shall do a book review tomorrow or later tonight haha..

but the sad and happy part is that I MISSED SUPER SUNDAY =(
But the great thing is to know everything went well. Kudos to the Worship Team, you guys are great! Hope everyone doubly enjoyed themselves! =)

I can only say - It's the Lord's will not to be there. Romans 8:28 comes to mind.

and before i lose the thought, 2 things struck me:
- How central is the CROSS in the church today, and our lives personally
- Is there a better way to reach out? seeker friendly services is that the way to go?

hmm...

Perth! :)

Where shld I start? So many things to blog about! I will try to go
chronologically...

I think what makes a good holiday, is travelling with good people,
especially if you are going to shoot pictures for your wedding album!

They have this saying "it takes a village to raise a child" and I
think the same can be said for weddings!

First up is my thank you list.

Thanks to dan fung for going out with me early last saturday, he
brought me to a great hairstylist and he was my first fashion guru,
ransacking my closet to find suitable clothes for the casual shoot!

Then there's mr GPS - jon wong! Haha why GPS? It stands for global
positioning satelite, not only did he drive us everywhere, he happily
brought us around for alll the good stuff!

But he's also General Purpose Slave - private chaffuer, baggage
handler, fashion critic! Haha

Then there's the beauty crew. Dan yan for styling my hair and liwen
for doing matz's make-up!

So its cool to be surrounded by great people, love u guys and the nice
people who sent us off as well :)

Well greatest thanks goes to God! A piece of advice - don't travel to
a country for photoshoots in winter, unless u r a polar bear! But God
did give us good weather for a few hours across the 3 days we shot.
Our formal pix with the gown and tux - haha it was SO cold, I'm
serious my butt was frozen!!! So was my face - the power of photoshop
pls!

And I must say - I have the loveliest bride :) she looks awesome in
her aussie make-up and hair-do and super long gown :) next holiday for
us is Honeymoon!! Yeah :)

I love the pace of life there - super relax, at a pace enuff for u to
enjoy life, instead of rushing through every moment like as though
life was lived on the northeast line!

Also it was a strange trip, in the sense that I had to go all the way
there to meet people whom I haven't seen in a while.

Met with my father's friends on sunday at harbour town. It was strange
cos its almost like someone trying to tell me about God....uncle sam
was telling me about my own father, whom he knew better than me. So
like learning about God from another believer, I was learning alittle
something about my father from this couple. It was nice to know that
they only had good things to say - my dad brought this guy to the Lord
many moons ago, by visiting him everyday, every week for lunch,
praying for me.

He told me "Isaiah, you have a great inheritance from your dad, that's
all I wanted to tell you". Strange to hear, but lovely still :) well I
hope I can impact people's lives the same way my dad did. "No one was
closer to God that I knew, than your dad" - and I hope I can reach
that too.

One day I'll have a nice bible that I can pass on to my own son too :)
pls folks, appreciate your mom and dad when they r around. U don't
know what u lose, till its not there, so treasure what you have :)

Met a primary/Secondary/JC friend in perth too! God bless u and ur
family, bro! :)

Ps: I'm writing this from tan tock seng! Why?? Cos I had a runny nose.
Doctor said play safe, sent me here to confirm if piglet didn't give
me a flu down-under. Finally after like 6 hours, I can go home! BUT -
I have to wait another 1 or 2 hrs for an ambulance to send me home!!!
Sigh, but thank God I'm ok :) they will only confirm finally tomorrow
morning, but if they let u go home and wait, its a good sign :)

So see yah all for super sunday!! Woo! Exciting!

Perth - one snapshot for the ride home

Basking in the sun @ King's Park.
Also can be Curtin's Foreign Student Handbook Cover. :)

Still in Perth at the moment and darling Isaiah's on the plane back home. Same time tomorrow, and Liwen and myself will be headed for home. I feel that I've been away for so long that I'm actually living here. Perhaps it has to do with the memories of Brissy, with Woolsworth, Myers and Aussie currency.

It has been a great trip with fantastic food and much weight gained. More importantly though, we fellowshipped and get to know one another better.

What most important though, was the photoshoot :) CF and Darren were a blast to work with. And i'll never forget their constant reminders, where they will go behind their Canon lenses, ' 眼睛开大一点!' hahaha. Neither will i forget Isaiah's frozen smiles or Darren throwing the veil and racing with the camera's shutter :)

More updates upcoming. For now, it's time to pack and head to bed.

In less than 24 hours, i'll be home bound, tackling the immigrations with my pretty heavy luggage. Perth's really beautiful, but i miss the familiarity of home. :) See ya!

bible camp....its over =(

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it." - Isaiah 30:21

Isaiah asked and received a verse from Isaiah =)

so...what's the way again? broad-based, something you might not expect. not one-dimensional, multi-faceted....haha...i still don't know! i'll wait for the voice from behind =)

Thanks Ps Mark B - a great guy with a pastor's heart and jesse the cool son, surfer dude with the beach house!!!

anyway must say that this year's camp was quite different from last year. i think i really enjoyed the morning devotions - kudos to Ps Mark! and of course to our camp commandant - mr wong!

It was well-thought through and quite challenging, but thank God for a good grp where everyone was contributing. and thanks to the kind souls - lichang, roanna, diya - for leading every morning!

then there was the attack of the "killer moths" haha....ocx made me a moth murderer...well we try to peacefully encourage them out of the open windows but they refused! moths - 0; isaiah - 5!

i thank God for all the words spoken to everyone and those youths who responded to the call. it was wonderful to see that and for some of the guys, i could really feel the Father's love for them as His Words were given =)

my only complaint...being singaporean is the food....aha...first day they gave teh tarik...i thought we were off to a good start! BUT!!!! it was not to BE! arrgh!

and for some reason, this year i was especially tired...getting old?? got a headache since the 3rd day and it still hasn't gone off!

to end..family camps are important. sometimes young people prefer to have their own space, adults prefer their own style of things...yet coming together like this even if it's only for a week a year is powerful. one thing to remember from the morning devotions - society and particularly the family is falling apart. more and more people that come into the church will likely come from incomplete families....having other families as examples and families that open themselves to newcomers is a powerful testimony to the healing and restoring power of God. The strength of the church is in the depth and strength of its relationships - a family that also happens to be an army.

nothing transforms more than the Love of God freely given - and we've been given...let's give =)

Don't say, unless you want to do.... =)

Back from Medan on Sunday nite and thank God for a fantastic weekend! Had a great time there with Ps Mark, Auntie Janet & Joy.

One thing I learnt, well more of reminded, was something that i caught just yesterday.

Thank God, i was given the great opportunity to share with the youths there =)

So one of the points was about how, sometimes, God will call us to do "unusual" or unexpected things...

So......

Just last night, one of my colleagues was soon to go for an operation (which took place today). So I felt that i should pray for her (she's not a Christian btw)....

so some people might take the approach of praying quietly, without the knowledge of the person. in fact i was "scheming" of how i could find an alternative route....perhaps i could SMS or email....

haha so it was like 830pm...i wanted to go off and i was prompted to pray...."God if i go back into the room and she starts talking to me, then I'll pray....if not hehe......"

So the power of John 16:24 "Ask in My Name [Jesus name] and yeah shall receive".....

She started talking......in fact for perhaps 10mins? we had conversation over work.....

And i knew....don't preach, unless u plan to do....haha....

so i offered to pray for her!

It felt weird, it was uncomfortable - it was unusual. but it testing my obedience and i believe blessings will be reaped in the spiritual....

SO my point to everyone out there - being a christian is all about listening out for what God is calling us to do in any situation...He's speaking, we just need to LISTEN & OBEY!

It could be in the area of a new career path, or how to handle a relationship gone wrong....God gives us the counter-world, counter-cultural, counter-expected response...

LOVE your ENEMIES
GIVE to those who would take from you
LOVE those who don't love you
Cast your net on the OTHER SIDE
PRAY when others worry
TRUST when there's nothing to see
HOPE when there's nothing to hold on to
DENY yourself
HUMBLE yourself
GIVE to GAIN

the list goes on.....God's way is the WAY =)

my handsome prince in a tux!

I realised that no matter how much we try to appear like we know, we always do not know. This especially applies when it comes to fittings! :) Isaiah and myself are always so helpless when it comes to this aspect. I mean, i always thought that a tuxedo has to have a tail... but apparently that's called a tailcoat.

A tuxedo is more about the collar and its different material.. and urm, that's all i know :)

So Isaiah had his first hand at trying his tuxedo some 2 weeks ago. :) It's so funny because it's the first time i seen him so dressed up. I mean, i am used to seeing him in a coat, but a tuxedo that's fits smugly.. wow :)

Lovely Caroline adjusting the bow tie for Isaiah
We changed it to some crumply thing and some diamond thing! :)

I was laughing so hard at Isaiah and his funny expression that i couldn't hold the camera still! :)

More fittings coming up! :) Thank God for such blessings :)

Bridesmaid Dresses

Take a vote, which would be the nicest for the lovely ladies? :)

i heart weddings :)

I love weddings. It's just the joy of being surrounded with so much joy and laughter. I guess one thing i will miss after this year would be organising the wedding. I wouldn't say that it's incredibly stress free, but it's just so much fun and joy and most importantly, filled with happiness and expectancy:)

Sometime back, i accompanied a close friend to look for her gowns. We were browsing the entire stretch of Tanjong Pagar and I'm pleased to report that we managed to tackle bout 5 in 4 hours :)

a shoe story :)

Some time ago, i gathered my horses (zhao bing lai ma), i.e., colleagues and moh, to go shoe shopping with me. I had a pretty tight schedule as i needed the shoes for the length alteration of my gowns. I had this idea that shoe shopping had to be the last thing, and by the last thing i mean somewhere in Sept/Oct. Obviously, i am seriously deluded as well. :)

Some shortlist shops were:
- Leaping Lizard
- Essex Walk
- Nine West
- Giuseppe Zanotti

Junie & Socks accompanied me to International Plaza despite their tight work schedule to look for the perfect pair of shoes. I felt somewhat like Cinderella except for the fact that the guy came before the shoes.

So anyway at Leaping Lizard, we spotted this gorgeous pair of shoes at a crazy price. Most shoes were custom made and i 'met' one that fitted just right. We were too embarrased to take a picture, hence later when we sat down for coffee, the two babes helped me draw the shoes.

The drawing doesn't do justice to the shoes but its the best we got. It was grey with rows and rows and rows of sparkling things! :) When i asked the kind owner how much it cost, he went 'with swarovski crystals or not?'. I was dumbfounded. I mean, these are shoes! Apparently the real stuff glitters more. Sadly, my budget of $100 was wayy below the cost. So bye beautiful shoes.

After much browsing, the kind lady in the shop offered a pair of glittery shoes that were on discount. It wasn't as fabulous as the previous one but i was tempted by the price. I decided against buying it at the moment as it just didn't feel right. I tried however to draw it..

It's the one on the left. Yes, it's pretty much of a disaster. heh :)

Javier & Joyce (6th June 09)

... it would be such a beautiful moment to see the look on your face

I feel wonderful because I see the love light in your eyes

And the wonder of it all is that you just
don't realize how much I love you

Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this

And the silliness begins :)

All i really want to do is to love you;
thank you for growing old with me.

facial hurts!

haha just went for my first facial in more than 10 or 15 years.....

the first time was traumatic and i'm convinced, did no good for my face!

the second time wasn't as bad, by all standards it was good, but extremely uncomfortable for me....not used to anyone else touching my precious face! =p

the price bowled me over too....knees were a little shaky after that....haha...first time i bought a facial wash that cost $68!

vanity oh all is vanity.... =)

BUT i promised Matz i'd go, so i went!

the lady said my facial products were too harsh and made my skin "old" haha....so i better look younger now man! after all, people (one person) said i looked 23 and still in poly =) God bless his soul =)
