finally blogging!

haha i have to confess - im blogging during service, while Pastor is preaching! (SINNER!)

but let's try something new - real time updates on the service!

Pastor Mark is giving a great message on Running From God, sharing from the book of Jonah.

that's a good thought - why do people want to run from God?? sigh....

Some pointers if you need to RUN FROM GOD:

if you run from God, you can't have a tender heart - your heart will be hardened

if you run, you can't turn to Him when times are tough. gosh...can we really handle that? why do we keep challenging God and showing that we are "tough guys", when really, we are so weak! we all need God, come on, admit it! you have to forever be healthly, wealthly, smart, stronger - to survive on our own! (is that even possible??)

If you run, you cannot yield to God's Grace chasing you! God's grace - so amazing, yet we still choose to resist it?? are we crazy? no....we are probably just selfish or we think God doesn't care about us? (or we think we are better than God?). perhaps, the issue is that we don't even really believe in God??

It's like spitting on the good things from God, throwing away the gifts that He has given us so freely.

Grace so amazing, so divine - yet we will not yield...sigh......

If you run, u must ABANDON GOD's PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE!
=> CONCLUSION - without God, you are TOTALLY ON YOUR OWN!

BUT, if you turn back to God, you get so much more!
  • Strength (psalm 62:11)
  • Help (Isa 25:4)
  • Everything you NEED (psalm 54:4)
  • Comfort (Isa 40:1)
So i guess the question is - "When do you want to turn back to God?"

does it take a storm of life, depression, economic failure, divorce, heartbreak? what will it take people ! what does God have to do to win you back??

God is willing to make a fool of himself, to sacrifice everything..to be shamed on the cross, to forsake the glory of heaven for the lowly existence of humans who are mere dust of the ground!
Come on friends, God always gives a second chance - THERE IS ALWAYS GRACE for choosing the right path, the right thing! His mercy is greater than our sin!
GOD desires to forgive and give, more than He wants to judge, for in judgement, God always remembers mercies. and even HIS judgements are out of love, so that we can turn back to what is good!
God will pick you up where you fall down, if you would let HIM! Your past sins do not change God's plans! God can still use you, it would want that.

For the Lord is with you, always, to the ends of the earth

Isaiah 43

1 But now, this is what the LORD says—
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.

2 When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.

4 Since you are precious and honored in my sight,
and because I love you,
I will give men in exchange for you,
and people in exchange for your life.

5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you;
I will bring your children from the east
and gather you from the west.

13 Yes, and from ancient days I am he.
No one can deliver out of my hand.
When I act, who can reverse it?"

Do not fear, for the Lord is with you.

one step ahead :) better than none ok!

http://flowertoss.com/blog

Cos blogger has gone mad on me again and slightly (hehe) because i'm too sleepy to go through the hassle of uploading and linking, here's a semi version of what the bridesmaids will look like! The colour won't exactly be the same; you can check out a previous post on it here.

I finally emailed the details on where to get their measurements done for the dress. Even the seamstress, Kim was asking when they were coming down. So lovely bridesmaids, pls check your email :)

Going to post on some beautiful invites that my talented BFF Peiling did; after i replied her mail that is. Have to reply the hotel on their invites. Gotta call the florist. Have to contact the church that never stops renovating. Got to book honeymoon. blah blah blah. sleepy. :x

12 DAYS TO THE END OF the exams.*hops around for glee and happiness!

Nights all. Sweet dreams. Though i wish you have less of them, that way we sleep deeper and better :) That totally spoils the 'sweet dream' message huh. :P

little feets :)

Ever wonder how much your feet says about you?
Of how far you have travelled and the roads you have toiled on? :)

Back from a short trip over the weekend. Despite the heavy workload weighing on our minds, it's really refreshing to see happy faces and to share good food and fellowship with a jolly good company. Praise God!

Isaiah will be super busy for the next two weeks. As for me, i resolve to get my work to-do list done. The faster i clear, the sooner some proper wedding planning can start. Can't wait for the orals to end too so that i can clear up my afternoons for work to be done. Though i have to say that i'm thankful for the extra cash that it brings. :)

And we really need to get our beauty rest for the photoshoot with my kids. Allow me some bimbo air time --> my face is horrid, my nails are all soft and brittle and my eye bags are awesome. I'm excited but.. two weeks to get everything done seems pretty daunting. I recall being very much more prepared the last time! Hhehehe. Now we've reason to get more sleep and to buy more facial products.. oops, i've done that already :P

Have a great week everyone. May the joy of the Lord be your strength! And that means waking up to an awesome Monday :) It's piiiiiiiiiink Monday!

101 DAYS TO THE WEDDING!

Monday, August 17, 2009

Hi hi!

so long i never post again.

what's on my mind? i have to confess... the whole world is on my mind except the wedding planning....i am guilty.

but one thing that excites me is that in my heart i picture the most beautiful wedding - no not ours...but the WEDDING of ETERNITY! when Jesus comes for us! the church!

and we want Jesus involved in EVERY aspect of the wedding. i want it to be special, not just cos of the friends that were there - yes u all are very special. but because Jesus was present through out.

the main thing i am thinking about - where to honeymoon!!

today i was praying. God where do we go. next to me on the train a woman was reading a magazine - ISRAEL, MY GLORY!

then this verse came to mind - Jeremiah 33:3.

i wont repeat it here. u go www.biblegateway.com and see k?

but its mainly cos i am reading this book on awesome prayer and i want everything awesome. i absolutely cannot stand normal or average. i don't want that kind of Christian life. Jesus was so cool - He was called Friend of Sinners. He hanged out with the losers of society, those who didn't deserve attention. I love that about Him. cos i am one of those losers. a sinner saved by grace.

i could have been so much worse, yet now i am so very blessed!

God it's Your wedding - be there. turn our water into wine, the BEST wine! =)

love is in the small things

During church today, i hopped downstairs to look for my lovely grandparents. Their Dialect service ends as ours start so they get to go home early :) And I thought i saw one of the most romantic things.

My grandpa is pretty old (in fact we just celebrated his birthday!) and sometimes his legs can get soft. During these times, it's hard to walk. Anyway, i popped down, and I saw my grandma going into the toilet. My grandpa was just standing around, waiting for her.

So i told him (in Hokkien and super weak attempt at Hainanese), 'why don't you go and sit down at the empty seat over there?' He just shaked his head and asked me to sit down instead.

And i went again, 'Gong Gong, you can sit there'.

This time round, he simply told me, 'i'm waiting for your grandma to come out from the toilet first'.

Awwww, after years and years of marriage, 4 children and 9 grandchildren later... their love is still evident in the small things. Despite his 'soft' legs, he chose to wait for my grandma to come out from the toilet.

I wonder if i can do the same after many many years. :)

p.s. Blogger doesn't like firefox and safari. grrrrr.
p.p.s 103 days to the wedding. save the date not out yet.
p.p.p.s plenty of photos from KL ! :) none uploaded. hahahha

Have a greattttt week everyone! I'm hoping to clear my workload and start planning the wedding for real. This time, there's no turning back! We're hopping up the wagon and going! :)

Daddy's Little Girl

Just a week back, daddy came into my room and asked how the wedding preparations were coming along. I was rather taken aback because my dad seldom asks about such stuff. He's the kind who shows love by buying us plenty of food and ensuring that his family has the best of all to eat :)

Over the years, my dad picked up quite a number of culinary skills. Whenever i bring food from home to school, I'm always so proud and happy to declare to my green-eyed colleagues that 'my dad cooked this last night!'. And they would always go, 'wahhh, really ah!' The feeling is awesome man. Love you daddy!

Anyway, of the many things he said, one thing struck me the most. It's not an uncommon line, but coming from him, i took a step back and digested it alil more. He was asking about my plans on where to stay after the wedding and upon seeing my shrug he went, 'a wedding is for a day (or two for us!) but a marriage is for a lifetime'.

Indeed. Wise words from a man who married the best woman in the world for the past 27 years.

Which prompted me to post up something we went through in marriage prep. On our first session with the pastor (also my uncle), we had (gasp!) homework. It's been awhile since I've been given homework; i can assure you that it is rather weird, ever so because I've been the one giving homework to others for the past 2+ years.

Our task was to think of reasons why we fell in love in the very first place. We also had to recall (or conjure something out of thin air) why the other party did so.

Here's Isaiah's:

And mine's:

Apparently I think i am funny but he disagrees :P And he think I'm in it for the security, but i'm waaay more than that. Hee hee.

I remember when we first got together, i used to bug Isaiah on the reasons why he was interested in me. Needed some form of security then i guess; just in case he said it was because of my brittle finger nails or beautiful handwriting. Anyway, because it was hard to put feeling into words, he always went, 'because you are you'. And when presented back with the question, i had pretty much the same reply as him.

As you can see, it wasn't easy coming up with the list. We struggled through coming up with the reasons as to why the other party fell in love. Partly so because we've been together for some time and some of these reasons gets mishmashed into our daily lives. However, it's important to always keep these in our heart and hence I'm posting it up here so that we remember.

Thank God Isaiah didn't put 'get free rides' as one of my reasons! :P

On a side note, we must be the worst marriage prep couple! We have postponed more sessions than we attended and we've only attended 2 so far. Uh oh - fail alert!

Last weekend was a rocking good one :) When the photos have completed their journey from the memory card to my computer, i'll post pictures of KL up! Meanwhile, have a greeatt restful weekend filled with blue skies. I'm looking forward to my gym sessions, Swissotel lunch and a chance to fly the kites we just bought from KL :)

p.s. it's been 1248 days since we got together... and 106 days to the wedding. Eeks, we are approaching the 100 day mark! Need to start planninggggg.

!!!

Fell flat asleep when i was supposed to rush through some stuff overnight for work. Argh argh argh!!!! Can you see the sleeping apple? The one with the flawless skin? Thats me. :P

I gobbled down an extremely significant amount of food for my two breakfasts just because i wasn't thinking much. It was nothing healthy like the apples that i used to bluff you. It was muffins, bread, etc etc.. When stressed, I realised that I binge eat. Fascination.

Let's just hope that when the wedding stress start (wait, why isn't it starting yet?), I won't binge eat. And when i do, people, PLEASE STOP ME! I know i am uncontrollable.. but just tell me the gown won't fit anymore or that my butt is huge.
