i love ISAIAH!! (even more! :))

We had the most amazing day! :) Shopped at Bras Basah from 1pm to 6pm today! For some funky reasons, all of our errands/wants/needs were met until one roof in the complex :) And i totally splurged on assessment books. Fret not, it's claimable. Hahaha!

Isaiah was such a dear. Not once did he grumble about walking non stop (actually i was the one who complained about my poor tired legs!), AND he surprised me with...

CINDERELLA TICKETS! :) :) :) :) :)

I was drawn to Lea Salonga after i fell in love with her song, 'Journey', many years ago.

Ok, enough talk, pictures from the musical taken from its website.

The step sisters and step mother

Stepsister's interesting dress sense (for the ball)

Lea Salonga as Cinderella and the lovely fairy godmother

Isaiah's favourite character - the mouse (who turned into the horsemen later!)

Saying goodbye, for now
Happily ever after
And i love the carriage! It's so prettttttyyy :) Sparkling and all!

I was most impressed by the set up of the stage and deco. I mean, when the fairy godmother was supposed to change Cinderella, i kept thinking, can she get on with it already!?! Then iT dawned upon me that this was not a cartoon but a play, hence special effects are impossible. Heh. Nevertheless, the change was super fast, so fast that we were left so entralled and amazed. :)

I had the most wonderful time. Thank you sweetheart for the surprise. But above all, thank you for remembering that i wanted to watch the musical, despite it being a passing comment, and oh so long ago! :)

43 months and 1382 days later...

Blessed 43rd Month darling :)

You have been through 43 months and 1382 days of my nonsense, silliness, craziness as well as the better times. Each time i'm upset, i know that i've got you to turn to.. after God that is! And i know that you'll always be there, rain or shine, for the better or for the worst..
.
.
.
.
.
except when i 'secretly' drink your ginger beer
or your tea
or steal your food cos its nicer
or ... :)

Each and everyday i am learning.. as God shows me the wonderful creation and beautiful blessing that He has brought into my life.

Thank you for loving me :)

Shawn & Felicity's Wedding

Accompanied Isaiah to his colleague's wedding this morning. What a brilliant idea to hold it on 1st October! :)

I had great fun playing with the SLR. I'm really hoping that the pictures turned out nice. Will upload them when the big guy does it!

Meanwhile, some photos from my trusty sony ericsson for now..

Lovely girls!
Pity the SLR died just before this shot.
Us @ Marina Square right after the wedding

It was a spontaneous idea to catch a movie. We arrived at 1pm and bought the 1240 show for Eagle Eye. Pretty good show, but it freaked me out alittle. Ahaa. Walked around, collected my birthday jeans from mummy and basically had good fun. It isn't everyday dear Isaiah walks in a shopping mall with me :)

love is in the small things

When Monday is as blue as it can be...

He brings you to a lovely movie :)
And bought you the cutest of all things.

When Tuesday ain't any better...

He buys you your favourite breakfast.
Sends it to your workplace
And then change his dinner meeting to send you to your meeting.

All these while he's sniffling away.

I love you too :)

PM's dating tips :)

IN-BETWEEN discussing the economy and the impact of the Internet on politics worldwide, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong also had some words of advice for singles seeking a partner.
'We may not have instant sparks the first time. But you take your time, discover the person for who he or she is, nurture the relationship, and then maybe love may blossom,' said PM Lee. -- PHOTO: ZAOBAO

  • Make time to go out and meet new friends.
  • Join a dating agency, be it the government SDU/SDS or a private agency.
  • Bring your social graces up to scratch. For instance, do not wear slippers when bringing your date for a romantic dinner at a nice restaurant.
  • Have realistic expectations. You have to make an effort for the relationship to work. While it is easy to get carried away by romantic images in movies - where you meet someone of your dreams, instantly fall madly in love, get married, maybe have twins and live happily ever after - we are ordinary people in real life.
'We may not have instant sparks the first time. But you take your time, discover the person for who he or she is, nurture the relationship, and then maybe love may blossom,' said PM Lee.
  • Next time your boss looks for you, say you 'gone dating' :)

You know you are dearly loved when he gives you his only chocolate from overseas... shaped in a spoon :)

You know you are dearly loved when he gets up earlier than usual so he can buy you your favourite breakfast before sending you to work :)

You know you are dearly loved when your daddy wakes up before 6am to prepare such a yummilicious breakfast so that you will have a good start to your day :)

You know you are dearly loved when Mummy buys you jelly hearts all the way from her office :)

You know that you are dearly loved when your sister wakes up at 6.30am just to do a favour for you :)

You know you are dearly loved whenever you think of your grandparents, you get a nice, warm and fuzzy feeling inside you :)

    Thank God for my family.

    Our names together

MATILDA From the Germanic name Mahthildis meaning "strength in battle", from the elements maht "might, strength" and hild "battle". Saint Matilda was the wife of the 10th-century German king Henry I the Fowler.

ISAIAH From the Hebrew name יְשַׁעְיָהוּ (Yesha'yahu) meaning "YAHWEH is salvation"

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation

    Isaiah 12:2
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Isaiah+Matilda = God, our strength & salvation =)

    seventh heaven

i've always had this question asked - how do you know if someone's the right one?

i've read lots and lots of books before i actually ever had a girlfriend (ie Matz) so i'll share some theory first.

basically these books talk about being able to connect at several levels of human interaction. you have to be able to connect:
    1. physically, in the sense of physical attraction to each other
    2. socially as friends e.g. hobbies and interest and similar social circles
    3. intellectually e.g. connect on similar topics of discussions
    4. emotionally, being able to connect on a heart-to-heart level
    5. spiritually/values - having similar religious views and similar values in life
looking at this, most people tend to start a relationship on level 1 (only God looks at the heart, we can only see the outside first!=p). then as the high days of "I swear i'll die for you..." fade, people struggle with the "I don't feel it anymore". if those that can make it through this stage, they go on to the "we've been together so long liao....", they won't even know what to do if they were not together.

    so that's Part 1.

but somehow i think the answer really starts with level 5 first. and i'll tell you where i learnt this - TV!!

long time ago there was this lovely show about a pastor and his HUGE family - Seventh Heaven. great show...so anyway if i remember, one of his son's was getting married and they feared that the future daughter-in-law wasn't really sure if this was the one.

so she asked the pastor - "How do you know if someone's the "ONE?". the pastor looked at her and took off his wedding band. on it, many years ago, they both engraved this on their rings - " You make me a better person".

that i think, is the answer. i remember a pastor saying "Marriage is not about your own happiness, but about helping each other become more like our Saviour, Jesus Christ" and in a simpler context - just becoming a better person than the one we were before the relationship.

it changes you (if you let it). you learn to think for 2 and not just yourself all the time. you learn the meaning of sacrifice, for no other reason that your partner's happiness. you learn that letting go of your own personal dreams and ambitions, allows you both the chance to build something even better, together.

that inscription is going on our wedding bands "You make me a better person" =)

    Diamonds, a girl's best friend =)

    Ring is not to scale!

You heard the joke about rings? First, you buy the engagement ring, then you get the wedding ring...finally you end up with suffer-ring! haha...typical joke, always hear it during wedding sermons.

Buying a ring is an extremely complicated process....especially when your girlfriend does not allow you to test any rings....then how to get the right size!

Isaiah - "Want to try out the ring? looks nice =)"
Matz - "You want to find out my ring size right! CANNOT! Wrong size you buy, then I don't marry you =p !"
    Isaiah - "........"

But, haha...through extensive prayer and great faith...i got the right size =)

    So you have to consider:
Certifier, Cut, Colour, Clarity...and the last one is Brand...

Anyway matz is not a diamond lover =) but still i love the classic look of the Tiffany ring.

    Where it all started.....

    f5c16c6e

    Haha...just reminiscing...

This was the orphanage we visit in Dec 2004, in Cambodia (there's this thing about COSB ppl and Cambodia haha...).

This sweet young girl was so cute, so i decided to take a photo with her! THEN matz popped-up in the photo! I'll let matz explain it =)

Me? I'm part-Calvinist. Saw this fantastic list of Christian pick-up lines and this one hits the mark - "Hi, I'm Calvin (Isaiah). You (Matz) were meant to choose me"

    God is good =)

    Hello Hello :)

    Welcome to our blog =)

I’m sure that I will always be
A lonely number like root three
The three is all that’s good and right,
Why must my three keep out of sight
Beneath the vicious square root sign,
    I wish instead I were a nine
For nine could thwart this evil trick,
    with just some quick arithmetic
I know I’ll never see the sun, as 1.7321
Such is my reality, a sad irrationality
When hark! What is this I see,
Another square root of a three
    As quietly co-waltzing by,
    Together now we multiply
To form a number we prefer,
    Rejoicing as an integer
We break free from our mortal bonds
With the wave of magic wands
Our square root signs become unglued
Your love for me has been renewed

Sweet flowers from a sweet person

Someone really sweet has been secretly sending bouquets of flowers to me via my school's general office. It's a warm fuzzy feeling... :)
'hello mdm, you got a delivery so we have to check if you will be in school till 5'(in a grumpy voice) '5? I dun think so''um, well, we'll try to rush down before that then''who is it from? ''well, we can't say. Perhaps it's a surprise.'
    A sunflower bouquet from before.
And one more for the road :)

    The Proposal (part 2)

Right after dinner, Isaiah said, 'Alright, let's go home.'

And i went, 'huh, but it's so early. Lets go somewhere to chill.' Then i suggested Kepple bay which the big guy didn't sound too enthusiastic about.

After a couple rounds of 'where should we go', i was officially 'sian-ed'. It's been 3 years and that's the end to the night? Surely we could go for coffee!!

Out of the blue, i spotted a car in front full of soft toys. I immediately squealed in delight. Isaiah too was laughing at how silly i was. Then the outrageous idea popped out of my mind, 'let's follow the car!!' Officially influenced by my silliness, he agreed to it. The decision was to follow the car filled with soft toys until we reach a nice place to chill at.

Halfway through ECP, he took out my bandana and said, 'let's make this more exciting, blindfold yourself so it will be a surprise where the car in front goes'. Since we were in the mood for silly things, i readily agreed. All through the trip i kept asking if the car was still in sight... obviously i totally didn't expect the next thing...

He stopped the car and led me (blindfold still on) through a really bumpy road (i was wearing killer heels. my special occasion heels!). By then i was convinced that he was lying and we were obviously at Keppel Bay (he just wanted to make it seem like it was his idea. hahah). At the end of the bumpy road, he suddenly went, 'take off your blindfold'.

Standing by him, he asked if i knew the place. Blinded by the sudden lights, i turned around and looked hard. The place was familiar ... but i can't figure out where.

When i turned back to him, i saw him on his knees with the ring in this hand. 'Marry me,' he said.

All i could muster after 10/15 seconds of stunned silence was, 'i'm not sure'.

I found out later that he was about to kill me for this response. His actual words were something along the line of... the movies always have girls calling their best friend to tell the whole world. Why is it different? Ha.

Anyhow, i agreed after another 15 seconds of stunned silence. It was a weak and feeble, but still a response that would change my life, 'ok'.

There you go, a brand new world ahead of us.

We were at Prince Georges Park, NUS.

Can't find a picture of the playground we were at. But these are pictures of my hostel when i used to live in NUS.

The playground was the place where my friend and i sat and chatted. The main topic being whether i should accept this guy ... who in 3 years time would be my fiance.

I can't get over how sweet that was. To remember something i said in passing so long ago. And to put in so much effort... Thank you darling :)

    The Proposal (part 1)

It all began on the 13th of March 2008. It was our 3rd year anniversary and i kinda bought a dress specially for the occasion. We met at 7.30pm ( i was too caught up shopping with Mum at the Isetan private sale :)) instead of the original 6.30pm at city hall.

He drove us to Eden Cafe for dinner on the pretext that it was some place he went with his colleagues (disappointing to eat porridge on anniversaries ok, but i figured it must be some really good porridge). He did previously asked what dishes i like and me being me just said the usual, urmmm.. Sambal Kang Kong, Chilli Crab. Lol. Not very helpful as i realised later..

Anyway, it was a plesant surprise to arrive at Club Street's Eden Restaurant. It's warm and cosy, not forgetting he booked the corner with all the *gasp!* teddy bears... MY FAVOURITE! :)

My favourite bear of the day :)
    Isaiah's favourite - monk bear!

Once we got settled, Clement, the chef and owner of the restaurant came out to have a short chat. I realised that the menu has already been specially prepared.. AWESOME! :)

Bacon with Tomatoes and Portabella mushroom

Caviar with frozen watermelon pieces & mint

Strawberry with yummylicious Steak (medium done)

Lamb (really nicely done and marinated) with mushrooms

    Chocolate and Banana cake

    Capsicum Cheesecake :)

The food came one after another. It was so good, i was upset that it all had to end. Every dish was special in itself. The portabella mushroom was heavenly. The frozen watermelons with caviar was just the perfect combination. I never thought cooked strawberries could taste this good. And best of all, for a non-lamb lover like me, the lamb was marinated so well, i could only taste the goodness and essence of it. Mhmmm

Naturally, everyone would be turned out by capsicums as a dessert. But fear not! It was interesting.. and yummy. Yes you heard me! For chocolate lovers, the former cake is yummy and extremely potent :)

    After meal tea.

Double layered tea cups - never too hot on the outside now!

Us, happy, contented and full :)

Well, that's all for the food part. I pretty much thought we would head to keppel bay to chill and all.. but Isaiah obviously had something else on his mind... :)
